Capability uplift

Capability uplift is essential to improve the productivity of existing and

new employees. It is also required to continuously improve the skills of the

employees as per the requirements of the new initiatives of the IOSpeed to

deliver the strategic objectives. The following are high-level steps to set up

a successful capability uplift initiative:

• Collect a list of all employees that were part of realignment as well as

new hires from departmental managers

• Make a matrix of employees, job roles, skills required by job role and

existing skills of employees

• Establish an experienced team across IOSpeed organisation, who are

SMEs

• Assessment of internal skilled resources, who have experience on

skills required by job roles and also who can teach or have mentor-

ship skills

• Partnership with vendors and external training partners for the skills

that are lacking internally. Create a team of SMEs and trainers who

would assist the employees on skill uplift

• Design and finalise the training courses (theoretical and practical)

• Create training plans based on the job roles

• Work with HR and managers to adopt the training plans as part of

employees’ career goals and performance targets. Make sure that these

become targets for each employee and part of performance reviews at

the end of the year

• Communicate the finalised plan to targeted employees and their

managers

• Launch the capability uplift programmes across IOSpeed organisation

Establish Centre of Excellence (COE)

As IOSpeed kick off the transformation journey across organisation to

deliver strategic objectives, it is beneficial to set up a Community of Practice

(CoP) or Centre of Excellence (CoE). There can be more than one CoP or

CoE within IOSpeed as it depends on the business and technology themes

being used as part of transformation. For instance, IOSpeed can have a CoP

for blockchain architecture standards and good practices.

The following are some of the steps to establish a successful CoP or CoE:

• Collect feedback on the requirements for upcoming transformational

projects, skill gap within the organisation and teams working on them.
